Where mothers bloom and babies blossom
ABOUT US
Welcome to Growing Wise Birth Services! Let us introduce ourselves! We are the Growing Wise Team.
My name is Moriah Wise.
I have been married to my husband, Michael for 15 years. We have five beautiful children.
This is a little bit about myself and my choice
to become a birth worker
From the time I was about age six, I watched my mom’s homebirth midwife, Brenda Parrish (I literally thought she was an angel), at my mom’s births. Brenda made me in awe of what a wonderful thing these women did.
When I became pregnant, I wanted to have a natural birth; however, we had very limited resources in the South Georgia area. I had a C-section with my first, which left me in grief over my lack of options and choices. At this point, I became a birth worker in order to help support and advocate for women during birth. I went on to have my last 3 VBACs with a midwife. That feeling of birthing a baby the way God intended, as well as being supported with evidence-based care throughout those 3 pregnancies (edited to add that I recently had my 4th vbac) , was such a healing journey. It was one that I hope every mama has the chance to experience.
For many years, I was grieved by my experience with prenatal care, labor, and delivery. I knew there was a need for different options.
As I serve South Georgia, I am excited to serve women and their families with love, support, and education in a way that allows mothers to blossom and their babies to bloom in the beautiful way God intended.

My name is Jackie Shaffer
I am married to my high school sweetheart. I am mom to two boys. We also have our first born, and only girl, in Heaven since she was three days old, and our youngest son, miscarried at 18 weeks, waiting for us in Heaven. I have had two homebirths and two hospital births of my own. Having varying birth experiences. in different settings, with different care provider styles, has given me a unique perspective on all things birth.
I knew when I was just sixteen years old that birth work was what I wanted to do. I was supporting my sister through seventy-two hours of labor with her first child and the experience was life changing!
I love what I do and am very passionate that every woman have the experience she dreams of for her birth. There is a specific beauty in women supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My only desire is to see every woman educated, encouraged, supported, and loved throughout this journey into motherhood. Whether it be for the first time or the tenth! (Or twentieth!) Every baby is a blessing that should be celebrated, always. This is not a role to take lightly. Being chosen and invited into a family's pregnancy and birth space is an absolute privilege! It is truly an honor to be able to serve women this way!
My name is Brittney Kirkman.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have five wonderful children together whom all I homeschool. I have always had a desire to learn as much as I can about what our bodies go through during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum and how best to help support our bodies through it all. I really enjoy being able to attend births and to dedicate my time to being a positive change in the birth world.
